Seems like cold and rainy days are over. Spring is just around the corner and we started to make plans for parties, weekends, vacations etc. Like every season we have to think about our look, clothes, make up, shoes and accessories.
Designer shops or malls have started the discounts for winter clothes. We are waiting for the new collection of Spring/Summer 2013. What’s in trend this season? From the catwalk of Paris, New York, Milan and London, here are the top trends for women:
Oriental inspiration
Elements from Asian culture, geisha kimono inspired, designers like: Prada, Lanvin, Gianfranco Ferré use them in their collections. Tops and wing-shouldered vests, satin fabrics and sock boots or even model’s red lips were really like a Japanese style.
Ruffles
Flamenco-style ruffles or deep frills edged necklines were seen in collection of Gucci, Balenciaga or J.W.Anderson. Used in dresses, skirts or in the sleeves of blouses, they accent minimalist looks by adding more volume to the entire image. Some are feminine but some other are exaggerated and give an extra sculptural look.
Pencil skirts
Pencil skirts are in vogue this season. Printed or monochrome they are ladylike, sophisticated and very sexy. Lengths vary from above or below the knee to very short. An advantage of these skirts is that they can be worn all year paired with coats, jackets, camisoles, etc. pencil skirts were seen at the collection of Burberry Prorsum, Erdem, Prada, Oscar de la Renta and Alexander McQueen.
Stripes
Include stripes into your wardrobe this season. Horizontal, diagonal or vertical, you should not avoid them. There are no rules, just black and white, be courageous and try other colors. There is a belief that stripes make you look wider, but that’s not for everyone. Wear striped top with one color trousers, the rule is not to wear all stripes, just one piece. Try to pair the colors and you will look gorgeous. Designers that used stripes were: Michael Kors, Vivienne Westwood, Tommy Hilfiger, Balmain, Jonathan Saunders and Oscar de la Renta.
Black and white
Black and white is timeless colors. They pair with every other color, in stripes, floral printed or monochromatic they were used by designers like: Roberto Cavalli, Elie Saab, Moschino and Alexander Wang. These two colors are also favorable within interiors and when decorating your home because they provides a timeless, classic and sophisticated ambience.
Retro style
Retro style is back again, specially the 60’s 70’s 80’s styles. This is seen in higher hem, shift dresses, hair accessories, jeans and crop tops. Louis Vuitton, Moschino and Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs include vintage elements in their collections.
Print and pattern
There are so many options from snakes, tigers, fauna and flora or pattern explodes in designer’s collections this season. So many designers, so many inspirations, so many choices. Floral prints are perfect for this blooming season, but also are in vogue: graphic designs, digital, mosaic, animal prints. Roberto Cavalli is the best animal printed designer, but also Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana and Isabel Marant.
Checkered patterns
Next to stripes this season, designers also used checkered patterns and plaid. Most of the clothes were black and white, but were also colors like: cream, brown, and beige. But be careful when you choose to wear stripes or checkers, they don’t pair together, wear them with a nude color, or another solid color. Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Balmain, Michael Kors and other fashion designer used checkers in their Spring Summer 2013 collections.
Crop Tops
Crop tops makes a return for Spring Summer 2013. They were a trend in 2009 and now they are back again reflecting a stylish and elegant look. It’s not just about showing some skin, they can be sophisticated paired with a high-waist pencil skirt, very feminine look. It’s a mix of retro and modern style. There are also box tops that are not fitted shapes like others. Used by Chloe, Rochas and Balenciaga, crop tops are very trendy and every woman should have one.
From all these choices, pick your favorite or dare for something new and enjoy this season.
